It’s not exactly like the Bob Seger song (sorry, prefer it over Metallica), but it’s kind of like that. The Crossing started out as a church plant and a missional community. Now, it is a movement within the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Streamwood.
In February I went to church at Immanuel planning on going to worship at second service. Surprise, surprise, worship service had been canceled and they were instead having a congregational meeting. This meeting would decide the fate of the church and I happened to stumble in on it. The next week when I went there for church, they recognized me as that guy sitting in the back during the meeting and the rest is history. I saw what passion the folks at IUCC had for one another and the historical congregation and I knew that God was calling me to be a part of their future. I am now an intern there working on revitalization among other things so stay tuned for more of what is going on at IUCC as well as my rants and raves on theology, church, and being the people of God. I hope you enjoy the ride!
In the meantime, how about joining us for 9 am or 10:45 am services as 1500 Old Church Rd. in Streamwood?
